We awoke early on Sunday morning to join the convoy driving out to Ower's Corner - the start and/or finish of Kokoda, depending on which way you roll.
It was a gorgeous, green, dramatic, inspiring drive. So taken were we with the view, we didn't even draw on the resources of music that were specially chosen for the drive. And in fact - we had our own mini soundtrack anyway. It was the sound of boredom from our gem in the back. Every now and again I would pull the little makeup mirror down so we could eyeball each other and she would remind me with her little screwed up face that she was still bored.
The audio reel of the sound of baby boredom was only broken occasionally with demands.
"Biccie!"
"Milk!"
"Ready!"
Repeat same, many times.
By the time we had arrived (about 9.30am), I had passed morning tea, lunch and many more refreshing drinks than strictly necessary over my shoulder to the sitting dame. Unless I am mistaken - it seems to me that the only trick parents really have up their sleeves in alleviating dramatic onset of baby-in-transit-boredom is a rolling food and beverage service?
It was a stunning location. We set up at a picnic table (built approx. 30cm from the cliff face with a few blades of long grass to act as a much needed safety barrier for all the small curious people) and enjoyed the views. Some folks wandered onto the track and disappeared for an hour or so. We hung back with our lady and positioned her into photographs to denote successful walking of Kokoda.
Some photos from our day ...
